Before going into any detail I MUST mention inspiration from Taenaron's "The Rise of a Planet" [link]

I have also used some sources to save me a lot of hassel since this was made for the PSP so I didn't want to spend a year making it lol.

Sources:

Clouds Photoshop Brush set:
Cloud Brushes by JavierZhx [link]

Planet texture:
Pluto by James Hastings-Trew [link]

I've told them all about the piece, hopefully they'll like it - even better if they have psp's!

----------------------------

Aside from using the cloud brushes and making the planet in my usual way but using the Pluto texture, I made the rest in photoshop. There are some very subtle light rays under the clouds that if not there you really notice a huge difference, I made those by simply motion blurring a photoshop texture and then giving it perspective, a mask and a screen blending mode.

I think it looks much better on the PSP screen as the image seems to come alive when viewed on a screen the same size as the image.

Thanks, I think lol... Of course it becomes a lot easier when using the other resources; cloud brushes and planet texture. It massively reduced the time it took me to make as, for example, the sunset image I did, as I didn't use a cloud brush on that, instead using manual brush strokes and cloud photos combined.
I guess once you've got a routine that works for making things like the hills, I stick at it although always making them different each time.

maybe some time, I make a lot of vector shapes, but tend to stay away from brushes as you can only make them in certain resolutions, meaning they're no good on any larger sized projects. Maybe some day!

fair enough. I just looked at the photo again and breathless might be one way to describe it but it made me inhale deeply when I saw it. Just the right place for quite content solitude I think.
